Chris Wood - Treasurer
Hello! My name is Chris Wood and I am the ISCA Board Treasurer. It was nearly 3 years ago when I met a school counselor at Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona who embodied the attitude and spirit I knew I wanted to have not only in my daily job routine but throughout my life.
Her passion to advocate, encourage, engage and lead her high school students was so inspiring, I immediately drew the conclusion that I was going to be a counselor and make a difference in EVERY students life.
Only a few years later, I find myself following in that counselors footsteps closely, just recetly completing my M.A. in School Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. Prior to UNI, I attended Wartburg College where I received my B.A. in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Public Relations and a Minor in Business Administration (I know, real counseloresque, right...) It turned out I found my calling while working full-time at Wartburg College, as an Admissions Counselor. During my time attaining my M.A., I also had the opportunity to travel the country working with high school students, counselors, parents, teachers and so many others to make dreams turn to realities.
In 2015-2016 I will be entering my 3rd year as a school counselor at Cedar Falls High School as a 10-12 Counselor. I will have the opportunity to continue to grow and learn within a school counseling position while having the benefit of being surrounded by tremendous school counselors on the ISCA board who will help in mentoring me down the entire path.
I enjoy traveling the United States, grilling, running, swimming, being active outdoors, time spent at the "box" otherwise known as a crossfit gym and of course an ice cold beer on a warm summer night.
I immensely look forward to working closely with the ISCA board and continuing to grow our membership of school counselors around the state of Iowa!
