Ideal candidates for the ISCA board are those counselors that are natural leaders and want to work towards the betterment of the profession in their community, their neighboring communities, and statewide.

Position Descriptions

President Elect - Elect - (Download application)
The President Elect-Elect serves on the ISCA Board for four years (July 1, 2018-June 30, 2022) in the following sequence of offices:  President Elect-Elect, President Elect, President, and Immediate Past President.

The President Elect-Elect begins to familiarize him/herself with the work of the ISCA Board, the President Elect, the President, and the Immediate Past President, and assists them as needed in meeting their tasks. In addition, the President Elect-Elect is responsible for the conference program sessions, working with the conference program committee to recruit program proposals, select among the submissions, develop the final program for the conference, and to make all necessary communications with those who made proposal submissions.  The President Elect-Elect also begins planning in January/February for the conference to be held the following year which he/she will chair as the President Elect.


Vice President - Elementary- (Download application)

The VP Elementary  serves a three-year term, starting July 1, 2018, and is a resource for elementary counselors, representing their interests in ISCA board decisions.  The VP Elementary works with the other Board VP’s to advance professional development opportunities for Iowa school counselors by identifying areas of interest, planning, making contacts, and /or presenting topics for webinars and the annual ISCA conference. The VP Elementary also provides/updates resources and/or links related to elementary counseling for the ISCA website and social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), and manages the Iowa Scene for elementary issues.s.

Vice President - Counselor Educator- (Download application)

The VP Counselor Educator serves a three-year term, starting July 1, 2018.  The VP Counselor Educator represents student counselor interests in ISCA board decisions and is a resource for issues/topics concerning research, resources, and items in reference to higher education.

The VP Counselor Educator works with the other Board VP’s to advance professional development opportunities for Iowa school counselors by identifying areas of interest, planning, making contacts, and /or presenting topics for webinars and the annual ISCA conference. The VP Counselor Educator also provides/updates resources and/or links related to school counseling for the ISCA website and social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). In addition, the VP Counselor Educator takes an active role in the ISCA Committee for Student Counselors and maintains relationships with counselor educators in the state.
